Facebook

Facebook- Pros and Cons

I have been a user of facebook for about two and half years now.  It has been both beneficial as a way to keep in touch with friends yet an continual annoyance filled with drama.

Facebook is great for advertising and keeping in touch with friends because nearly all people, young and old, have one nowadays.  It is simple to log on, update your status, and then talk to some friends.  However, lately the cons have been outweighing the pros.

Facebook, for high school kids, is a great way to start more drama.  People's statuses are often directed towards other in a hurtful way.  This just causes more issues at school the next day.  Not to mention, everyone has that one friend who posts a status every five seconds just for shits and giggles.  I believe that the people who feel the need to let everyone else know a play by play of their lives is unnecessary.  Don't even get me started on the pictures...

People who post suggestive pictures of them with their tits hanging out and shorts that look like they belong on day old baby is over the top.  This is not a pornographic website, it's meant for keeping in touch with friends and advertising for businesses.  Cyber bullying could easily be avoided if people did not post such suggestive pictures.  Posting suggestive pictures leads to boys sending texts asking for naked pictures.

Facebook is also an example of the death of spoken language.  Th3 wy ppl tpe n snd txts r bcoming mr n mr abbrv. tht bsic grmmr n lngage r dyin. With such abbreviations like OMG, lol, brb, ttyl, etc., the spoken language will soon be extinct.

I do agree that facebook is a beneficial social network, but there should be more control over what types of pictures people post.  However, facebook is an example of technology that is unavoidable with future inventions.
